Molly Masland

With more than 20 years in journalism, Molly brings to Motive a strong background in research and analysis, including broad international experience. Molly began her career in San Francisco covering Silicon Valley tech companies for Bloomberg News during the dot-com boom of the ’90s. She later joined MSNBC.com (now NBCNews.com) soon after its initial launch, covering tech, politics, health, and environmental news, before serving as an editor and producer.

After a decade in news, Molly launched a freelance editorial consultancy, serving authors, nonprofits, and small businesses, along with industry-leading corporations such as Microsoft, Amazon, C-SPAN, Hasbro, and BP. She has also assisted tech startups in venture capital fundraising and early-stage operations.

Molly holds a BA in International Studies from the University of Washington, with a focus on Russia and Eastern Europe, and an MA in Communications – Journalism from Stanford University. She has traveled widely around the world, and has lived in China, Russia, and the UK. She lives on Cape Cod, Massachusetts, where she enjoys working in her garden and exploring the beaches of the outer Cape.
