As Principal Analyst, Dan leads Motive’s research organization, overseeing the strategy, execution, and quality of all candidate identification and market intelligence efforts. He manages a team of analysts, ensuring that every search is grounded in comprehensive, data-driven insights. Dan plays a central role in defining research methodologies, building out talent maps, and guiding nuanced analyses of candidate pools, org structures, and industry trends.

Dan has led research for C-/V-level searches across a wide range of sectors and geographies, with a particular focus on mid-stage startups and mission-driven organizations. His work spans Europe, the United States, Latin America, Southeast Asia, and East Africa, providing clients with a truly global perspective and a deep understanding of regional talent markets.

With a strong focus on precision and efficiency, Dan works closely with partners and consultants to align research outputs with client needs, ensuring a rigorous and targeted approach across all searches. His leadership has been instrumental in developing scalable processes that support high-quality search outcomes in complex and evolving contexts.

Dan brings a global perspective and a disciplined approach, shaped by his academic background in political science and international relations. He holds a BS in Political Science from Western Washington University and studied International Relations and Security Theory at the University of Copenhagen. He has traveled extensively across 5 continents, including multi-year stays in Pakistan, Kenya, and Denmark. He holds dual citizenship with the United States and Denmark, and speaks Danish.
